Life on the Edge

Terry, who owns the gallery, "The Studio" in New Hope, PA asked me to create paintings with deep edges on them.

Since I paint on unstretched canvas - flat on my work table  - that is pretty easy for me to accommodate.

I just have to get fatter wood to stretch the painting onto when I am done.

I LOVE THE FAT EDGES!

Here is the one I am working on right now.

I drew a 3"-ish edge that in this form, is rather like a border around the painting.

This "border" will become the edge of the painting when it is stretched onto the wood.

Sorta like this!
This is actually the bottom of
 a different painting.
This is what has my brain in
 high gear lately.

I imagine this painting is in a hallway and you are walking down the hall and there you see an individual painting
that is long and thin.

THAT should pique your interest and when you get to the front of the painting...
viola!  Another painting!

Yep.

Then when you pass the painting you can look back and see ANOTHER long tall painting on the other edge.

Bonus, if you are short, and you can see the individual painting on the bottom edge
and likewise if you are tall, you can see the separate painting on the top edge.

Just finished the 30 day painting challenge and I am super excited to get back to my regular schedule of painting lots of paintings at the same time.
The 30 challenge was to go from blank canvas to finished product in one day.
That meant that I could only work on ONE painting per day, as I had to paint each part and get it DRY to move on to the next part.

Often, I was painting with one hand and blow drying another section with the other hand.  Yes.  For real!

SO, now I will get back to my own pace and production level.    Stay tuned!

You can read about each and every day of the challenge - over there on the left side of this page.   Click on the "30 Day Challenge."
