this week.
A happy mistake and look what happened!Spooky - but fun!
Then there is the spookiest of all spooky paintings.
(for this week)
(so far....)
Maybe that castle is on fire in a creepy old forest?
This one just keeps my attention, for sure.
I am trying a little something different this week. A happy mistake and look what happened!Spooky - but fun! This one looks like a coral reef. Then there is the spookiest of all spooky paintings. (for this week) (so far....) The more I look at this - I can almost see a castle in the center.
Maybe that castle is on fire in a creepy old forest? This one just keeps my attention, for sure.

A friend gave me a huge roll of canvas. It turns out it is not canvas. It is a vinyl wall covering. Heck. I don't care. I will paint on about anything... I bought this little table at Goodwill and then painted a piece of that vinyl and put about 5 coats of poly-acrylic sealer on it and now all I have left to do is glue it down. Bye-bye cherubs..... Hello Denim. These were a challenge to paint as I had that left-brain right-brain quarrel going on.
"These are pants." "No. This is just a funny shaped canvas." "NO." "NO!" Oh the battle raged on.... I am not certain these are done yet - but wanted to hang them up ponder them. I bought this at Goodwill last week.It was at the top of my budget for this size of painting. $3.99 Wonder what I will do to her tomorrow?
I feel like I have a mean streak sometimes... I have a painting that I painted over and it turned out awful. It just got busier and busier and I did not like it. Today I decided that I just did not care and started painting over it one more time... I like it.
Yesterday, I got 3 gallons of varathane for a total of $5. I think I can seal some paintings with this product. I went to another garage sale and got a bunch of paintings that I will be painting over and repurposing for my art work.I paid a total of $15 for all of these.Yahoo!
If you have never been to a Goodwill Outlet Store, then you are missing out on buying stuff "by the pound." Some items are priced separately. Like this painting I bought. It is a big painting about 4 feet tall.. Boy.
Those are some bangs there... This is so bad that it is almost GOOD. I might put it in my antique mall space and see if I am the only crazy one who thinks this has a funk factor going on. Sometimes I see the weirdest things while out shopping: I work. I shop. I sell stuff on ebay. I paint. I try really hard not to buy stuff to keep anymore. Just stuff to sell. But, today I bought (another) painting. I have a lot of art. And now, one more than a lot... Love these buildings. I will have to use some of these ideas in my paintings for sure. I did find a fabulous pottery bowl, and it was not until I got home and started looking at the signature - that I realized that it may well be a Tom Coleman bowl. And that is a GOOD thing! Look: NIce, eh?
At Goodwill today I also found a huge pair of vintage bakelite dice in a transparent green. I will list them on ebay on Monday and maybe I will see lots of GREEN! :) We had the offer of a free yurt in a campsite at the coast for three nights. Sounded good. I asked, "Is there wi-fi?" I was assured there was. Ahhhhh.... Then I could update this website and learn to use my fancy DSLR camera by watching youtube videos. You guessed it. No wi-fi. I still had my iphone - but it is so not the same as my computer. What does a yurt look like in a state park in Oregon? Here is your tour: Took these photos with my iphone on the day we were leaving - so the mess is ours and the yurt belongs to the state. This was a handicap accessible yurt. Has a nice little roof on the outside deck which was great for that August Oregon mist. Inside is a painted plywood floor and a bunkbed with a double bed on the bottom and a single on the top. On the right is a futon. All the beds have a thin-ish vinyl covering. Bring your own bedding. A couple of plastic chairs are provided and there on the wall is a fire extinguisher and the rules: No pets No cooking No smoking On the deck is a picnic table and out in the campsite is another picnic table and a metal fire pit. Each yurt has a skylight dome. It is cool! There is even a hook on a pole to open it up for fresh air. The windows on the yurt are screened and can be rolled open and secured with velcro. I looked at the website for Pacific Yurts who manufactured all these and the 16' yurts cost about $5300.00 Electric heater! Two electrical outlets too. A small wooden table and two wood chairs and a mirror and lights and a smoke detector. Quite a lot going on in a small round space! I took some photos of a rusting storage container near the Salvation Army store. The store was over price. But, hey - it is in a touristy town... The next day at the beach I found some rock that reminded me of the rust! The ocean was fabulous to watch. The beaches were deserted. In August. Go figure..... Not bad for iphone pics....
