I hate to be bored. That is why I like my iphone. Always something there to keep me occupied. But painting is better! Here is what I have been up to lately...  It is always fun to try something entirely different. Working on another in my "village" Series. Made a wall of my birch paintings in my gallery.

I have been seeing bees everywhere lately and decided it must be a sign.  As you can see... this is in progress....
I often paint over paintings. Thrift store paintings, garage sale paintings. My paintings. I was not pleased with one of mine, so I started painting over it and the two paints I was using did some rather fun and interesting things together. It reminded me of the ancient Japanese woodblock prints of ocean waves.  I did not finish this one as the paint reactions got me too excited to go and "try" to see if I could get that effect I wanted! The paint did not do what I wanted it to do. It was pretty adamant about what it wanted to do. Danged it the paint was right and I was wrong - cause this came out just the way it did. It reminds me of the view if you were in a boat at the bottom of a BIG swell of water in a story ocean.  This one did not behave according to my whims - but I still like it. I have a limited supply of that wonderful dark blue house paint that I have been using for this technique - so I will continue on until the gallon is gone.
* FYI * Since I use a lot of found/leftover/freebie house paint, I have found that the expensive brands of paint are really and truly better paint. Behr - Lauren - Divine - etc Just in case you decide to go and make art with house paint..... |
