I actually got two pieces of plywood that are about 6 foot long and two foot wide.
I have had an urge to make a BIG painting and as luck would have it - - on the way home one night was a BIG piece of plywood with a "FREE" sign on it. THIS is the reason I have a van. Ya never know what you might need to load up! I actually got two pieces of plywood that are about 6 foot long and two foot wide. DONE!

This "Klimt-Challege" was just what I needed. Something to take me a different direction. I am self-taugtht and I am not afraid to try anything. If it turns out awful - I just paint right over it. I don't show off the ones I don't like. Duh... I like this second Klimt-fish that I painted. More background texture and some of those box shapes he used. I am still adding to the deconstructed Klimt painting too...
I follow an artist called Gritty Jane (Jane DesRosier) on Facebook and she threw out a challenge the other day to have artists make "something" in the style of Gustav Klimt. OK. I cannot paint people - but I can paint shapes. This was my first one... I was trying to imitate the shape of the gowns in some of Klimt's paintings - but have it an abstract koi fish. The next one I am working on for the challenge is far more abstract - yet trying to keep the curvy big shapes of those gowns - but represent nothing. This one is still in the works... I did finish a "mombot today. This one is always late and rushing and has somehow crushed one of her young underfoot. She is painted with house paints and my tools are generally squirt bottles.I am working on the next mombot also.... Yowza!Using leftover house paint is fun. But, a sad sad thing has occurred. I have run out of a magical blue paint. This paint reacts is a fabulous way with white paint. Now, there is no more.... Nice nice blue paint....So, I decided to experiment with the very last of it. This reminded me of a caterpillar. |
I post on Facebook and Instagram all the time about what I am working on. Click on the BLUE links and check it out!
