Next I tried a different set of colors...
So painted over them in my "new" style.
All the paintings this week are still in progress.
I am so excited to see how they turn out!

Sometimes I make progress bit by bit in my paintings and sometimes it just happens like turning a corner. This week was a corner. Not that I had not imagined that city, that street, that corner. I just had not been there yet. I had wanted to paint in a different style and change my colors up a bit - and off I went! I tried out some ideas on my iPad. Then off I went with paint on canvas. House paint, as usual... Oh, I was having fun now! And it was quite a mental challenge to work on leaving more empty spaces. Next I tried a different set of colors... Then I found 3 more paintings that I did a couple of weeks ago that I did not like. So painted over them in my "new" style. All the paintings this week are still in progress. I am so excited to see how they turn out! Stay tuned to see how these all turn out.

Being self taught has some great advantages. I just give in to the urge to paint whatever I want. Sometimes it is owls…. Sometimes it is poodles… This week - I have had an overwhelming desire to paint abstract. Really really abstract. Pomegranate Trees. Then and NowIkibana WindowI like cats. So I decided to paint some cats. I decided to try a cat style out on the iPad first. I liked it. I liked it! I have an ancient iPod with about 3500 songs on it and I usually just put it on "shuffle" and go with that. So I decided that whatever song was playing when I was ready to put words on the piece - that is what I would write. This is from a song by Richard Thompson. Cats are not good spellers…. Neil Young song. Bob Dylan.
