I am working on a new series. I have a gallery opening at the beginning of next month and I will take some of these smaller colorful paintings. This one is almost done. I like the wonky factor to these.Detail on one...Since the Frida Kahlo Facebook "challenge" - I have been painting faces. Lots of faces. Faces are rather fun. Then I got carried away. No surprise to anyone who knows me... I carved lots of "templates" out of styrofoam and used similar colors on all the different faces and had fun printing on my prints...What fun! Then I saw a piece of pottery on Pinterest and the design caught my eye and I wondered if I could do something in a similar style... Yes. Yes, I could... Can't stop. You can't make me! Details from the next batch...Over on Facebook - Gritty Jane threw down a Frida Kahlo Challenge. OK. I was up for that. But then, it just went and took a new and unexpected direction and isn't that just the funnest thing?? I carved out a piece of non-recycleable styrofoam and started printing. Here is the painted styrofoam.I have smooshed it down on the canvas and start peeling it off.....There she is.Four of them!Four more. You get the idea...I have these end pieces of canvas from my canvas roll and they are not quite big enough for some paintings - but they seen to be a great size for my printing project. I like the ambiguous nature of these. Then I decided to get a BIG piece of canvas and start printing with my recycled styrofoam that I carved. This was eye candy to me. Then, I overlaid print-on-print and then and then and then! I have to go do more of this today.
Have to. Must go now..... I work. I shop. I sell stuff on ebay. I paint. I try really hard not to buy stuff to keep anymore. Just stuff to sell. But, today I bought (another) painting. I have a lot of art. And now, one more than a lot... Love these buildings. I will have to use some of these ideas in my paintings for sure. I did find a fabulous pottery bowl, and it was not until I got home and started looking at the signature - that I realized that it may well be a Tom Coleman bowl. And that is a GOOD thing! Look: NIce, eh?
At Goodwill today I also found a huge pair of vintage bakelite dice in a transparent green. I will list them on ebay on Monday and maybe I will see lots of GREEN! :) |
I post on Facebook and Instagram all the time about what I am working on. Click on the BLUE links and check it out!
